  Lesson 11 - K-12 Curriculum Framework  Reflection Based on on my understanding, K stands for kindergarten and 12 refers to the succeeding 12 years of basic education, which is why it is called K to 12. Six years of elementary school, four years of junior high school, and two years of senior high school make up the 12 years of basic education. The K-12 curriculum provides pupils a decongested 12-year program with the purpose of giving them enough time to master skills and gain fundamental competences in order to be globally competitive.
