Lesson 9 - Developing Basic Digital Skills


Reflection:

Teachers must be clear on what basic information, abilities, and values (literacy) digital learners need to gain as they modify their teaching to properly fit the new digital environment of ICT. These fundamental reading skills will not replace the 3Rs, but rather supplement them with six vital abilities that will prepare children for success in the millennial world. Rather than being referred to as literacy abilities, fluency skills are a preferable term to use. These are solution fluency, information fluency, collaboration fluency, media fluency, creativity fluency, and digital ethics. In Bloom’s Taxonomy of Thinking Skills can serve as a general framework of skills, a new era of creativity in the digital world has led to introducing a kind of framework that requires information processing, idea creation and real-world problem-solving skills.

Developing fundamental digital skills allows us to learn how to correctly use the computer's many capabilities and use them when we teach in the future. We'll be able to educate our children how to utilize the Internet to collect important information and how to appropriately apply that knowledge to solve difficulties they face in the classroom, at school, and in the real world.
