Lesson 19 - Problem-based and Project -based learning


Problem-Based Learning (PBL) - It employs either an inquiry or a problem-solving model. Students gain knowledge about a subject by working through an open-ended challenge in trigger material. It's a method that encourages kids to learn by involving them in a real-world problem.

Project Based Learning -  focuses on a production model. As the name implies involves a project which involves a complex task and some form of student presentation and/or creating an actual product.

Examining the outcome is one method to consider the differences between the two. Students in Problem-Based Learning must present a solution to a clearly defined authentic problem, whereas students in Project-Based Learning must produce an artifact to demonstrate their knowledge of content.
